Job Description LOCATION ENDUIMET WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA ACCOUNTABLE TO EXECUTIVE BOARD   SUPERVISING HEAD OF SECURITY OFFICER, FINANCE & ADMINISTRATOR OFFICER, TOURISM OFFICER AND COMMUNITY LIAISON OFFICER  
 1.        Introduction Enduimet wildlife management area is seeking to employ a manager to oversee and implement overall administrative and operational tasks in the area. This position is made available for qualified and experienced applicants to achieve set up short and long-term goals of land and habitat protection, wildlife conservation, tourism investment projects for sustainable development strategies for Tingatinga, Ngereyani, Elerai Olmolog, Lerang’wa, Kitenden, Irkaswa, leremeta, Endonyomali, Ildonyoo and Kamwanga villages forming Enduimet WMA in northern Tanzania.

2.      Background of the area. Enduimet Community Wildlife Management Area is located in Longido District, Northern Tanzania. With the size of 75,143 hectares, the area poses significant conservation opportunity if well planned approaches are designed and implemented. About 86% of this area is set aside for conservation. The WMA was established in 2003  and belongs to eleven villages of Tingatinga, Ngereyani, Elerai Olmolog, Lerang’wa, Kitenden, Irkaswa, leremeta, Endonyomali, Ildonyoo and Kamwanga. The main purpose of EWMA is to conserve the wilderness as part of Kilimanjaro-Amboseli ecosystem for biodiversity, tourism and the sustainable social economy development of EWMA community members and adjacent areas.  

3.      Overall responsibility: Responsible for managing the Wildlife Management Area (WMA) and developing it to a financial sustainable business that: integrates conservation, tourism, livestock and enterprise development; benefits communities, villages and households; Protects the land and contributes to improvement of village and household livelihoods. Key tasks: WMA Strategic planning - Develop and implements WMA annual plan that integrates conservation, tourism, livestock, and increased economic and social benefits to households and villages in the WMA Community awareness and engagement - Develop and manage programs to ensure the improved community awareness’ and engagement of the WMA and the benefits and the activities within the WMA including the community needs and services to be provided to the communities by the WMA. Overall Program management - Coordinate all WMA activities: anti-poaching, crop protection, human-wildlife conflict management, wildlife conservation, livestock and grazing programmes, and village development programmes. Plan and implement efficient operating procedures for the WMA. Financial Management - Oversee and develop WMA budgets, monthly expense and revenue statements; ensure clear and accurate bookkeeping and financial operating procedures in compliance with government and donor financial procedures, compliance with TRA regulations. Transparency and good governance - Ensure meetings are planned, held and reported using the principles of good governance; that the meeting reports are prepared and made available to AA, WMA Board, communities and stakeholders. Ensures that all financial records are stored and are easily accessible and financial records are made available to the public. Project Management - Preparing project proposals and project reports to donors, individuals and organizations for funding. Manage and coordinate all stakeholders and activities within a project ensuring the efficient use of resources and the implementation of the project according to conditions agreed by stakeholders and project donors. Personnel and asset management - Managing, training and mentoring MWA staff and appraising their performance to ensure motivation and high productivity, maintain asset register and condition of all WMA assets. Monitoring and evaluation - Develop the scope of the M&E of the WMA, the various areas of focus, the aims of the M&E, the performance indicators and the evaluation; manage the feedback and reporting of the data to the necessary stakeholders. Capacity building and development - development, management of programs and activities to increase the capacity of the various WMA staff, sub- committees and community WMA members. Tourism development and management - Develop and improve tourism services and products within the WMA, increase WMA visibility; manage relations and contracts with tourism investors. Encourage investors to operate their businesses in a sustainable and environmentally friendly manner.

 4.      Job requirements: At least Bachelor’s Degree in wildlife management or community development or business administration. A minimum of five years’ relevant work experience. Demonstrated financial management and computer skills. Excellent people management skills and experience. Good report writing skills. Demonstrated investor handling skills and experience. Excellent public speaking and presentation skills. Ability and experience in working in hardship areas. Being a local resident from member villages will be added advantage
